Ian’s Impact, Hurricane’s Path Forces Georgia High School Football Week 7 Changes


As Hurricane Ian continues to be monitored, reports say that the now Category 2 storm, is on a path towards Cuba and Florida and is producing winds of 85 mph to 100 mph. While there is no certainty on how much Ian will impact Georgia, adjustments around the state have already been made in relation to high school football and what, if any changes have been made.


While the Georgia High School Association has not made it mandatory, teams all across the state have made the decision to move their Friday games to Thursday in anticipation of inclement weather on Friday. While announcements of game day changes came in throughout the day on Tuesday, several teams announced that they will still play on Friday evening.


Schools having been utilizing their social media platforms to keep fans and their communities’ up to date on changes. GPB’s coverage of the Calhoun vs Cartersville game will now be streamed on their website and aired on Friday at 7:30p while Peachtree TV will still carry the Walton and North Paulding game on Thursday.
