While the Roswell Hornets are in familiar territory as two-time defending champs, having won back to back Georgia High School Association state championships in 2014 and 2015, they look to achieve a team goal of winning a third consecutive title, which no boys lacrosse team has done in Georgia.
On Friday, after a first round bye, the Hornets opened their playoff run in the second round of the GHSA Division II bracket against the Richmond Hill Wildcats and dominated the matchup from the opening faceoff, scoring 10 goals in the first half and would go on to pick up the 21-1 win, with junior Kaden Parla leading all scorers with six goals.
Earlier in the week, Roswell head coach, Bryan Wallace spoke with Prep Sports Nation's Daminon Lewis, telling him that while the team's approach to this season's title defense may be "a little different" in comparison to the start of the 2023-2024 season, the Hornet's mindset remains the same.
"Our goal and our structure is to definitely be playing in the state championship on May 17 and we continue to go to work in terms of what we're doing and at the same time, the plan and the execution and the understanding in our culture is really what continues to be our backbone," Wallace said when speaking with Lewis.
Roswell will host North Oconee, who defeated Pope earlier this week, in the third round of the state title tournament on Tuesday.
