Chamblee 'pulling together' as they get 2026 season underway

The Chamblee Bulldogs kicked off their 2026 season over the weekend as they hosted the annual Dekalb County Spikefest, which featured all teams from the school district, with several teams also playing at Miller Grove High School. "We've been hosting, I think at least 10 years, so the nice thing is we do have the gym for it and it's kind of a well oiled machine," Chamblee head coach, Lorri Reynolds said of the Bulldogs hosting the annual event in their newly renovated gymnasium.
The Bulldogs themselves are coming off a 2025 season in which they finished with a 20-20 mark and a berth into the Georgia High School Association state championship tournament with a team which overall, was fairly young having just two seniors and two juniors. "We're very young," Reynolds said of the Bulldogs.
"It looks good. They looked good this morning and we'll see what happens when we really get some competition," Reynolds said of the Bulldogs, who she noted had roughly six days together in their home gym due to the renovations which took place at the Chamblee gymnasium over the summer. "So far I'm happy," Reynolds said, adding she believes her team "knows the game", however in order to accomplish their goals for the season, she needs them to "pull together" as they move forward.
"I'm all about team and I don't care how good you are, if you are really that good, then you're going to make the person next to you that good too. So if everybody does that, then we're all going to come together," Reynolds said, praising her players for their team chemistry. "They get along really, really well," Reynolds said, noting neither or he players "have time for drama".
"They're good girls, they're smart girls and they want to win so hopefully we're off to a good start," Reynolds said. Chamblee will return to the court on Thursday when they face Mount Pisgah and Druid Hills.
