PSN Spotlight: Christian LaVette - Walton Raiders Football

For Walton's Christian LaVette, football has been a part of his life since he entered the world and following in the footsteps of his father, Eric LaVette, and grandfather, Robert LaVette, who both played for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Walton linebacker continues the family tradition of suiting on Friday nights. LaVette has 68 total tackles (34 solo 34 assisted), four tackles for loss and a sack on the season.
What were some of the biggest adjustments you had to make after year one of varsity football?
"Watching more film. You know the speed of the game, it sped up a little bit. Seeing formations better, start playing with more confidence and being a better leader for our defense,".
What is it about the game of football you love?
"I just love the physicality of it. Just running around, hitting people, the competition and just playing with my boys on Friday nights. It's a feeling that nothing's like it,".
Is there anything about your game that you want to improve on?
"Just like the little things, like taking better angles, making faster reads. You can always do better no matter how good you are playing and I just want to keep being disciplined and being a playmaker for my team every week,".
What are some lessons learned which have stuck with you along the way to this point?
"Keeping a level head through the ups and downs of the season. Just keeping the same intensity no matter how bad or good the season is playing out and just blocking out the outside noise and trusting in your work and what you put in,".
As the season continues, what are some important things for you and your teammates to focus on to help you all achieve your team goals?
"Keeping the same intensity we've been having and don't get too complacent. We just have to keep that edge we've been having week to week so that we can finish the season out strong,".
What are some things you pick the brain of your father and grandfather on in regards to football and getting to the next level?
"Just their mindset on how they treat the game, how they watch film, how they went through every game. My grandpa talks about his days at Georgia Tech all the time and so I just like to get into the same mindset as him,".
