Tucker Downs Lovejoy, Norcross Outlast Meadowcreek In Region Match Ups
On Friday the Tucker Tigers hosted the Lovejoy Wildcats in a region match up in which the Tigers would need the wini in order to keep pace with Westlake and North Atlanta in the region standings, while Lovejoy looked to secure their first region win of the season. The Wildcats came out scrappy within the first few minutes of the game as they led briefly 6-3 in the first quarter, but the Tigers would close out the opening period on a 21-2 run to take a 24-8 lead heading into the second quarter. Tucker would never look back, going up by as many as 50 points before settling for a 74-40 win. Tucker's Christian Yeates finished with 17 points leading all Tigers' players and teammate Raylen Barrion would add 15 points.
In our second game of the night, the Meadowcreek Mustangs hosted the Norcross Blue Devils and looked to hand the Blue Devils their first region loss of the season, while keeping themselves in contention for one of the final four spots in the region standings as they held the fifth spot heading into the night. Norcross would open up the game on an 8-0 run before the Mustangs would finally get on the board. Despite Norcross leading majority of the night, the Mustangs would make runs all night keeping themselves in the game. At the start of the second quarter, Norcross led 21-13, but Meadowcreek would open up the period on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the night as they led 22-21. However, the Blue Devils would quickly turn things around and end the first half with a 32-28 lead. The Blue Devils would go on to win by a final of 63-50. Watch highlights from both games below now!
