Prep Round Up: HIES Prep Slam and Pope and Campbell Holiday Hoops
Saturday's Prep Sports Nation Prep Round Up included a stop at Holy Innocents as the Golden Bears hosted their annual Prep Slam, featuring over 300 wrestlers from around the country and for the second year in a row, The Baylor School would win the day on the mat.
Stop number two included some girls hoops action as the Pope Greyhounds took on the Archer Tigers in the championship of the Hounds Holiday Hoops Classic. While the Tigers were in control most of the game and leading by as many as 12 points, a late surge by the Hounds would find them close the gap to get within three points late in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers would hold on for the 66-60 win.
The final stop of the day included boys hoops action as the Campbell Spartans took on the Westlake Lions in the championship of the Campbell Holiday Classic and the Lions would jump out early on the Spartans to take an 10-2 lead, but the Spartans would respond with a 10-0 run to take 12-10 lead late in the first quarter. The contest would get physical between the two teams and Campbell would build an 11 point lead, but the Lions would battle back and the two teams would exchange taking the lead for a stretch before the Spartans would pull away for the 82-74 win.
