On Friday, the Georgia High School Association girls basketball state championship tournament continued with the round of 16 action in Class 6A as the Lovejoy Wildcats hosted the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets. With two of the state’s top guards in sophomore Bryanna Preston of Lovejoy and Flau’jae Johnson, LSU commit, of Sprayberry, the game was full of exciting action as both teams looked to lead their teams to victory.

Throughout the first three quarters, as expected, the game would remain fairly close, with neither team having more than a seven point lead. But in the fourth quarter, momentum would swing in favor of the Wildcats as they would head into the period with a seven point lead and despite the Yellow Jackets battling back to get with five points late in the quarter, Lovejoy would withstand the Sprayberry rally and pull off the 69-53 win. Preston would finish with 16 points for the Wildcats, while her teammate La’nya Foster would lead the team with 24 points.
