Jonesboro Escapes Late Push By Banneker For 65-61 Win, Improves To 8-0

Back in action for the first time since before the holiday break, the Jonesboro Cardinals hosted the Banneker Trojans in region play as the Cardinals looked to improve to 3-0 in the region standings and the Trojans looked to secure their first region win. The Cardinals would get off to a strong start, as they would open up on a 7-0 run and go up by as many as 20 in the first half. Jonesboro would lead 45-30 at halftime, but the Trojans would slowly chop away at the Cardinals' lead as they would outscore Jonesboro 15-9 in the third quarter and trail 54-45 heading into the fourth quarter in which they would once again outscore the Cardinals, this time 16-11, but that would not be enough for them to overcome the deficit before time expired on them. Jonesboro would go on to pick up the 65-61 win as Devon Rainey for the Cardinals led the way with 23 points and Nate Adams contributed 16 points in the Cardinals win.
