(Updated) GHSA HS Football Week 11 Predictions And Game The Week - Jonesboro vs Creekside

1. Creekside (4-2, 4-0) vs Jonesboro (6-1, 4-1) – It’s a short week for the Cardinals. One in which they suffered their first loss of the season to Woodward Academy, 18-13. It should be worth noting that the Cardinals had just played Friday night, when they defeated Drew, but now Friday’s match up with the Seminoles will be their third game in a week’s time. With an opportunity to take second place in the region standings with the win over Creekside, Jonesboro will need to dig deep. This is a team that doesn’t blow you away offensively however, they play with a very stingy defense that has only allowed double digit points twice this season.

Creekside comes into this with plenty of motivation. A win over Jonesboro this week and Woodward next week would allow the Seminoles to lock up the number one seed out of their region heading into the playoffs. The Seminoles are riding a four game win streak, but they have had their struggles offensively. Creekside will have to rely on their run game going with backs Kamauri Davis, Cameron Burch and Jamond Lee as they have struggled in the passing game and that is what the Cardinals will have to focus on. With the number two seed on the line and home field advantage for Jonesboro, giving the edge to the Cardinals. Pick: Jonesboro

2. Rome (5-3, 4-1) vs Douglas County (7-1, 4-1) – This will be an important win for both teams in this one. A win for Rome can help them secure the number two seed heading into the playoffs and a win for Douglas County gives them momentum heading into what would be the region championship game against Carrolton in two weeks. It has been an up and down year for the Wolves, but they have been able to string together three straight wins here down the straight, with their most impressive win being a 31-14 win over Alexander. The biggest concern for the Wolves is they have not been able to get consistent production from one player on a week to week basis, although freshman running back Shaun Nelson seems to coming into his own lately.

After their upset loss to Paulding County, Douglas County got back to business and that was playing with a stingy defense, holding South Paulding to 12 points and Dalton to six. Offensively, the tigers had their second best performance of the season in their win last week over Dalton. Tigers’ quarterback Mike Miller has played well for Douglas County in the last two games, the most consistent play they gotten out of the position so far this season and they will need more of that this week to help the defense out. With a chance to play for the region championship next week and playing at home, giving the edge to the Tigers. Pick: Douglas County

Our original game of the week, Johns Creek vs River Ridge has been cancelled.
