Berkmar Owns Fourth Quarter, Defeats Discovery 55-44
On Tuesday, the Discovery Titans boys basketball team hosted the Berkmar Patriots in an important region match up for both teams. The Patriots came into the game with an 8-1 region record, trailing region leader Norcross, who they will face on Friday, by one game. Meanwhile, Discovery came in at 5-2 in the the region. With such a close race in the standings, as expected, the game started off close with multiple lead changes throughout the first half and the game would be tied 25-25 at the break. In the third quarter, Berkmar would have momentum swing their way as they would out score the Patriots 15-12 to take a 40-37 lead to end the period. However, it was in the fourth quarter when the Patriots turned up the heat defensively as they held the Titans to just seven points in the quarter while scoring 15 in route to a 55-44 win. Berkmar's Malique Ewin would lead the team with 16 points and 13 rebounds followed by Jermahri hill with 15 points. Discovery's Navaughn Maise would lead the Titans with 12 points followed by Ian Davis with 11 points. The two teams will meet up for the second half of their season series on Monday at Berkmar.
