Dutchtown Downs Cedar Shoals 57-44 For Their First GHSA 5A State Title


On Friday, the Dutchtown Bulldogs boys basketball team took on the Cedar Shoals Jaguars in the Georgia High School Association Class 5A state championship game. At the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs would find themselves holding a 16-14 lead as Jamaine Mann would lead they way with seven points for Dutchtown.

In the second quarter, Cameron Bryant would start to heat up for the Bulldogs as he would score nine points in the second period of play and help Dutchtown take a 29-21 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter, Dutchtown would outscore Cedar Shoals 8-6 to take go up by ten points at the end of the period and momentum would stay with the Bulldogs throughout the fourth quarter and despite a couple of last chance buckets by the Jaguars, Dutchtown would go on to win 57-44 to win the GHSA 5A state title, their first state championship in program history.
