GACS Lady Spartans Claim GHSA 3A State Title With 54-44 Win Over Beach

On Thursday, the Greater Atlanta Christina School Lady Spartans basketball team faced the Beach Lady Bulldogs out of Savannah, Georgia in the Georgia High School Association Class 3A Girls Basketball state championship game. For the Spartans, sophomore, Kaleigh Addie (28 points) would get going early on scoring 10 of the the GAC's 11 first quarter points. She would finish the first half with 16 points.

For the Bulldogs, production would come from multiple players, as at least eight would score, including Kaila Rougier who had 15 points at the end of three periods of play. Despite the ball being distributed well for the Bulldogs, the Spartans would find their groove on the defensive end of the court forcing several late turnovers that led to fast break points.

In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would be trailing 37-36, but a quick 6-0 run would give them a 42-37 lead, which they would never relinquish as they would go on to pick up the 54-44 win to claim the GHSA 3A girls basketball state championship. Their first since 2007. Watch highlights from the game below now!
