Eagles Soar Over Spartans As Collins Hill Defeats Campbell, Advances To GHSA 7A Championship Game

On Saturday, the Campbell Spartans girls basketball team faced the Collins Hill Lady Eagles for the second year in a row during the Georgia High School Association Class 7A state playoffs. Last season, the Eagles eliminated the Spartans in the Elite 8 round, but this time around, the two teams would go head to head in the GHSA 7A Final Four with a title game birth on the line.

Campbell, a team know for their scrappy defense, which they rely on to help spark their offense, would force the Eagles into turnovers early on in the first quarter as they would find themselves with a 10-6 lead. But the Eagles would close out the opening period on a 7-1 run to hold a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Collins Hill would outscore Campbell 12-7 and 13-6 in the third quarter, giving them a 38-26 lead at the end of three quarters of play. The Eagles would go on to win by a final score of 54-37 as Collins Hill's Eden Sample would lead all scorers with 18 points. Watch highlights from the game below now!
