Grayson Secures State Playoffs No. 3 Seed, Edges Newton 56-55

In girls basketball action, the Grayson Rams and the Newton Rams would go head to head in the Georgia High School Association Class 7A Region 8 tournament consolation match up for the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds out of the region for the state playoffs. Newton would take control early in the first quarter, however Grayson would eventually settle in and trail by two at the half after trailing by as many as five in the first quarter.

In the third quarter, Newton would go up by as many as eight but in the fourth quarter, Grayson would battle back to tie the game at 49 a piece after a Nyelle Lee free throw. Down the stretch fouls by both teams would have them at the free throw line in the final seconds of the game, but it would be Grayson edging out Newton for the 56-55 win.
