ELCA Chargers Payback Holy Innocent, Defeat Golden Bears 21-7 For Their 6th Consecutive GHSA 1A Priv

On Friday, the Georgia High School Association playoffs continued with semi finals action and in class 1A Private, the Holy Innocents Golden Bears hosted the Eagles Landing Christian Academy Chargers in a rematch from back in September in which the Chargers fell to the Golden Bears 42-41 in overtime. As the first quarter got underway, the Chargers would take the opening drive of the game and march down the field completing the drive with a Gabe Wright touchdown pass to Devon Dorsey and the Chargers would take a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, with ELCA still leading 7-0, Wright and Dorsey would connect for a second touchdown and the Chargers would take a 14-0 lead and that would be the score at the half.

In the third quarter, Holy Innocents would finish their opening drive with a 35 yard touchdown run by Matthew Davis and the Golden Bears would trail 14-7. Following that score, the defenses on both sides of the ball would have to come up with a few fourth down stops to give their offense an opportunity to score, but it would be the Chargers finally scoring after stopping the Golden Bears on a fourth and one with 4:25 remaining in the game. Keaton Mitchell would score a rushing touchdown on the ensuing possession for ELCA and they would go on to pick up the 21-7 win, advancing to the GHSA 1A Private title game for the sixth year in a row. They will compete for their fifth straight state championship! Watch highlights from the game below now!
