Langston Hughes Wins 2020-2021 Rivalry Preview, Holds Off Westlake 46-42

On Thursday, the Wsetlake Lions boys basketball team hosted the Langston Hughes Panthers in a rivalry game that will return to a twice a year meeting in the 2020-2021 season as the two teams will once again be in the same Georgia High School Association classification and region.

The Panthers would make a statement early, opening the game on a 15-1 run, but in the second quarter, the Lions outscore the Panther and take a 24-22 lead into the locker room at the half. The third quarter would end with the game tied 32-32, but in the fourth quarter, the Panthers would get a boost from Patrick Carter Jr. would would knock down four consecutive baskets with three of the four from beyond the arc. That spark by Carter Jr. would help the Panthers hold off Westlake to pick up the 46-42 win. Watch highlights from the game below now!
