Seminoles Fight Off Tigers As Creekside Defeats Douglas County 22-14

On Friday, the Douglas County Tigers football team faced the Creekside Seminoles in a game with region standing implications for both teams. As the game kicked off, the Tigers defense would waste no time making their presence felt as Johnathan Jefferson would bat down Aaron Penny's pass which Shakai Woods would scoop up and return to the end zone for the score and Douglas County would take a 7-0 lead just ten seconds into the game.

The remaining time of the first quarter and throughout most of the second quarter, each defense would keep the opposing offense at bay as neither team could get any offensive production until Creekside's Tyler Malone would break for a 55 yard run to set up a first and goal. The Seminoles would give the ball back to Malone on the ensuing play and he would score and then he would also add the two point conversion and the Seminoles would take an 8-7 lead. At the start of the third quarter, The Tigers would stike first as Justin Franklin would score on a quarterback keeper, putting Douglas County back on top 14-8.

But on the Tigers next possession, Franklin would take a big hit that would have him exit the game and he would not return and that proved to be a crucial moment for the Douglas County as they struggled offensively the remainder of the game. The Creekside defense would capitalize on the Franklin injury, keeping back up quarterback KJ Amor in check and the Seminole offense would then turn things on scoring another 14 points and going on to pick up the 22-14 win.
