Westlake Defense Shuts Out New Manshester In Double Header Action

Westlake defeats New Manchester in double header action

On Wednesday, the Westlake Lions were back in action on the road at the New Manchester Jaguars and looked to rebound from their double header loss to Riverwood last week. As the game go underway, the Lions would waste no time getting things going offensively as they would take a 6-0 lead following a K’Myah Graves touchdown pass to Olivia Logan. Later in the half, Graves would rush for a touchdown and add one more passing score to help the Lions take a 20-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, Graves would add two more rushing scores as the Lions would go on to pick up a 34-0 win in game one of the double header. In game two, the Lions defense would continue to keep the Jaguars offense from gaining any momentum as Westlake would pick up the 24-0 win. After the game one win, Westlake head coach Tiffani Smith said overall she was satisfied with how her team came out and played on Wednesday.

“I think they were locked in this game and I’m proud of how they played. Lights out defense, that was the first thing we stressed and they did that. And offense did what they were supposed to do by scoring points,” Smith said following the game one win. Smith would go on to add that, that is how she needs to play game in and game out, not taking any team for granted, regardless of the outcome of the game. As a result of the Lions being locked in, they were able to walk away with two wins and improve to 6-2 on the season.
