The 2025 Georgia High School Association cross country season is underway and while there have been a few races to win for teams, many runners are focused on seeing their times at marks they are comfortable with as they prepare to tackle some courses throughout the season, as was the case on Saturday, when the Wesleyan Wolves hosted several teams for a time trial race.
"Honestly, I'm really happy with this," Wesleyan's Landon Jonas said after winning the boys 5000 yards run in a time of 17:03.3 on the home course which he described as "not the most ideal conditions," as overnight rains and early morning mist, caused for soggy and muddy conditions on the run.
"Honestly, I feel like I just cruised it but I was really happy with this effort here today. I'm looking forward to some of the future races," Jonas, who finished fifth at the GHSA 1A-3A Private State Championship last season, said. Meanwhile, the girls 5000 yards race would go to Wesleyan's Weezie Moore as she finished in a time of 20:30.4.

"I kind of was doubting myself halfway through, but what really got me through was this is my home course, I know it best and I thought that I should just own my own course," Moore said as the 2024 GHSA 1A-3A Private State Championship runner up reflected on Saturday's race.
The Wolves will return to the course on September 6 when they head to Carrollton for the OrthoWest Invitational where both Jonas and Moore finished the 2024 season.
