Flowery Branch 'pumped' to build off success of year one under Coach Michael Perry

In 2025, the Flowery Branch Falcons ushered in a new era as head coach, Michael Perry, entered his first season over the program, leading them to a 7-4 season after finishing 4-7 the previous year. Now as they prepare the start of the 2026 season, Perry says his team is “excited” for some action, which begins with a scrimmage against Seckinger.

“I know the kids are all pumped up about that. It gets a little monotonous when you’re going against your own bodies all the time,” Perry said of his players being ready to face Seckinger, noting his expectations for several players to have good seasons this year, including senior defensive end, Dre Sadler, who finished with 74 total tackles, 42 of them solo, and four sacks last season, junior linebacker and running back Ryland Garrison, who totaled 63 solo tackles and five sacks in 2025.

“We’re really young in some spots, but really proud of how these kids have fought through the heat in the summer and just can’t wait to see what they do,” Perry said about looking forward to seeing his players in their first scrimmage of the season as they look to build off the success the Falcons had in Perry’s first season, which he credits his coaching staff for the role they have played.

“We have a great assistant coaching staff and those guys are just top notch and they love on these kids and try to teach them, not only football, but about life and the kids know they’re really cared for and loved and I think that’s the key,” Perry said of the relationship between his coaching staff and players.

And when it comes to takeaways from the 2025 season which Perry believes will be beneficial in regards to the Falcons being able to take another leap in 2026, the return of players at key positions will be a big factor. “I’m really excited. We have a lot of returners on our offensive line and they’re big physical guys that we really lean on,” Perry said of the unit which includes senior Cage Loggins.

“He’s our main culprit in that. A great kid and just tough and nasty and exactly what you want in an offensive lineman, so he’s our leader and really looking forward to those five guys up front,” Perry said of his offensive linemen group, which help the Flowery Branch offense average nearly 30 points per game last season.

Flowery Branch will open the regular season on August 21 when they host the Cass Colonels.
