The North Cobb Warriors are just a few years removed from winning the Georgia High School Association Class 7A championship which they claimed in 2023 and as they prepare for the start of the 2026 season to begin, head coach, Stephen Sansing, is taking note of how his players "are coming together," to get set to hit the courts once the season begins.

"With being separate with clubs and on different teams, sometimes it takes a minute to mesh and they've done a really good job of coming together, playing together," Sansing said of the Warriors, who recently displayed their chemistry at the Berry College volleyball camp. "You could see the growth at that camp," Sansing continued, praising his players for their efforts in winning their respective bracket championship at the camp.

"They've really improved a lot," Sansing said, adding he sees his team "doing a great job" playing for each other," and with a few weeks remaining before the season gets underway, seeing "effort" throughout the remainder of the summer will be important as well as "talking, communicating, the things that they control," Sansing said of what he wants from his players. "When our effort's there, we're pretty good,".

And as the Warriors look to have a successful season which results in another state championship, which both seniors Keagan Ruffus and Ashley Hendershot had the opportunity to do as freshman on the Warriors 2023 title team, Sansing says his players understand they cannot rely on what the program's past successes to help them leave their own mark.

"They want to be their team and their identity and so the seniors, especially, and those returners have done a great job of being humble and saying 'hey, we have to go out there and win with this group and do it together' and I feel like that's something that's been a strength of theirs to say, 'ok, we're not just going to make it through on our name alone, we have to go out there, get down in the trenches and find to win the game,'" Sansing said.

North Cobb will open the regular season on August 4 against Hebron Christian and Buford.
