Pope Greyhounds Take Down Lassiter Trojans For Area Duals Championship


After a long day of battling through opponents, the Pope Greyhounds and Lassiter Trojans found themselves facing off in the championship round of the Georgia High School Association Class 6A, Region 6 Area duals. The Greyhounds would find themselves down 28-15 with about five matches to go, but would turn things around in the 106 weight class when Josh Scheete would hold on to defeat Lassiter’s Riley McElliot 6-2 and then in the 113 weight class, Pope’s Jacob Robinson would win by pin over Lassiter’s and the Greyhounds would trail 28-24. The turning point in the match up would be in the 120 weight class when the Hounds scored a victory as the Trojans’ Beau fischer was disqualified for an illegal take down. The points awarded to Pope would give them a 30-28 and then win in the 126 weight class by Joey Robinson would extend the Greyhounds lead to 36-28. They would go on to win by a final of 39-28.
