Parkview clutch in wins over Duluth and Houston County in 'Ram Classic'

On Saturday, the Parkview Panthers softball team hosted the Grayson Rams 10th Annual Ram Classic and in double header action took on the Duluth Wildcats and the Houston County Bears. The Panthers began the day taking on Duluth and the Wildcats would jump out early taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, sparked by a two run single by Mar Sternberg.


Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Panthers would get on the board as a pass ball by Savannah Mees, would allow Eliana Brinson to score from third and in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Panthers would even up the score at three all thanks to a two run home run by Megan Forsyth, her first high school career home run.



With the ‘Classic’ operating under tournament rules, time would expire with the score still knotted up at three and the Wildcats would get a chance to regain the lead in which they would as an RBI double by Jamiyah Gary would give them a 4-3 lead. However, in the bottom of the frame, the Panthers would tie the game once again as an era on a throw to first in an attempt to throw Olivia Kotoski out, would result in Alyssa Zamoro crossing the plate, making it a four all game.


As the tie breaker inning continued, Parkview would have a no outs, bases loaded situation for Brinson, who would show off her bat strength, driving the ball off the wall in left field and bringing in two runs. The walk off two run double would give the Panthers the 6-4 win and they would later defeat Houston County 3-1. The two wins on Saturday would extend Parkview’s win streak to five games in a row.
