North Atlanta looks to build with 'energy and effort' for 2023 season

North Atlanta head coach Kerry Sarden talks with team during timeout against Eagle Landing Christian Academy

The North Atlanta Warriors will open up their regular season on Friday when they take on the Druid Hills Red Devils and for head coach Kerry Sarden and the Warriors, this will be a season of building as they return just one starter from a year ago. “We’ve got a brand new team, a lot of different working parts so we have to figure out how to play together,” Sarden said after the Warriors scrimmage on Tuesday against Eagles Landing Christian Academy.

The North Atlanta scrimmage gave Sarden and his players their first opportunity to see how the work they put in over the summer and fall would payoff facing an opponent. “Playing a team like we did tonight, they showed us the way I would like to play,” Sarden said as “energy and effort” have been his main points of focus with his players. And as the season tips off for the Warriors on Friday, Sarden says they will continue to work on a few areas he would like to see tightened up.

In addition to playing well together and sharing the ball, Sarden said the defensively, he wants his guys to make sure they are “not getting lost”, however despite the work that the Warriors will put in as the season progresses, Sarden said the biggest contributing factor to what can be a successful season for North Atlanta is that “they’re all good kids and when you’ve got good kids and they want to try, you know you’ve got something to work with,” Sarden added.
