In track and field, McEachern High School was the site for the 1A Private, 2A and 7A championships in which Campbell High School’s McKenzie Kelly would win the girls 400M run state title in a time of 55.38. Following the win, Milton head coach, Tim Godby reflected on how his team opened their season in a come from behind win against West Forsyth. “That game made our season, because we knew what we had to do to work and we were prepared for this all year long,” Godby said. Coach Godby also pointed out that although iit is not usual to compare championships to other seasons, Saturdays win for their 14th championship was a special one after having to deal with the 2020 campaign getting cut early. “This feels as good as any because we didn’t get our season last year,” Goday said, pointing out how COVID-19’s impact on this season was a bit of a stressful one but he credited his players for how they “worked together” and executed during the game.
