As the 2025 Georgia High School Association volleyball state championship tournaments have got underway, on Tuesday the Midtown Knights hosted the Dalton Catamounts in the opening round of the Class 4A bracket and the Knights opening the match with a dominant 25-2 win in set one and going on to win set two 25-14 and set three 25-17.
"They played how we practice," Midtown head coach, Martha Jones, said following the Knights win, crediting her players for their consistency in efforts towards their matches. "They came out to win and they won," Jones continued, praising the Knights for their resiliency throughout the season.
"They're down, they come back, they work together as a team, they are a team," Jones said, adding that as the Knights prepare to face North Oconee in the round of 16, she hopes to see her players to continue to play well defensively. "Just need to tighten up a few more things," Jones added.
Midtown will travel to North Oconee on Saturday to take on the No. 1 seeded Titans.
