Johns Creek stays on track to complete 'unfinished business', advances to semifinals

After their 7-1 win over the Riverwood Raiders on Tuesday, the Johns Creek Gladiators boys soccer team found themselves in familiar territory as they advanced to the Georgia High School Association Class 5A semifinals for the second consecutive season and the third time in four years.
"We've got unfinished business. We've gotten here a lot," Johns Creek head coach, Kelly Bowler said following Tuesday's victory as the Gladiators have fallen short in their quest to to reach the state championship game the past four season. "We want to win a state championship," Bowler said of the Gladiators, who look to win their first state title in program history, but the next step requires a win over the Decatur Bulldogs
"When we went up 3-0, you saw us take our foot off the gas peddle a little bit, everybody tried to do a little too much on the ball and everybody wants to score at that point," Bowler said of the Gladiators who took an early 3-0 lead in the first half, however allowed the Raider to score late with :16 remaining before halftime.
"They're teenagers at the end of the day so we have to make sure we stay mature and composed in those situations," Bowler said, expressing the importance of his players needing to able to execute their game plan when they face the Bulldogs. "Those are things we have to work on, but other than that, a great performance from the boys tonight," Bowler said.
