HS Football Week 6 Predictions - Game Of The Week Collins Hill vs East Coweta

1. Lowndes (4-0) @ Valdosta (2-1) – Valdosta got hit with a blow last week when GHSA ruled quarterback Jake Garcia ineligible for the 2020 season. They have played two games without him in which they went 1-1, defeated Bainbridge and lost to Colquitt County, Propst former team. Lowndes is rolling with wins over Archer (35-21), Griffin (45-6), Oakleaf, FL (37-17), and Lee County (38-13) and has a defense anchored by senior linebacker Thomas Davis, Miami commit. Last year the defense only allowed 11.6 points per game and so far this year they’re allowing 14.2 points per game. Pick: Lowndes

2. Collins Hill (4-1) @ East Coweta (4-1) – Collins Hill offense likes to put up points as they have averaged 29 points per game through these first five contest, however their defense has a tendency to sputter which we saw in the Grayson game in which the Rams tied the game at 7-7 in the third quarter and then scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to get the 28-7 win. In last week’s contest, the Eagles only scored three points in the second quarter while giving up 14 and in the fourth quarter went scoreless and gave up eight points. The Eagles will have to finish the game this week as East Coweta also can put points on the board with three games where they have scored at least 42 points or more including 49 in their win over Northgate last week. Defensively, the Indians have been pretty stingy. They allowed 28 to Norcross in their only loss of the season but in the other games in which they allowed 20 points or more, the Indians were already up big and the opponents score late in the game. If the Indians can take Travis Hunter away from QB Sam Horn, I like the Indians chances in this one. I also believe the Eagles will have to shut down Indians’ running back Jayden Bolton who has rushed for 7 touchdowns and 586 yards through the last four games. Pick: East Coweta.

3. Alexander (3-1) @ Douglas County (4-0) – Alexander has been playing with a defense that does not like to give up any points as they have held three of their four opponents to seven points of less. Now in their only loss of the season to Cartersville, the bank volt was open as they allowed the Hurricanes to score 35 points while being held to three offensively, which was their lowest point total all season thus far, scoring 50 against Chapel Hill, 45 against Lithia Springs and 42 against Paulding County. Douglas County game out the gate blazing with a 47-7 win over Lithia Springs and 37-13 win over Stockbridge. The last two contest they were slowed down offensively by a tough Dutchtown defense as they picked up a 15-0 win but only score eight points in the second quarter and seven in the third quarter. In last week match up with East Paulding, who at the time was also undefeated, the Tigers weren’t able to get their offense going until the third quarter as they trailed 13-0 at the half. The Tigers defense will have to lock the Cougars down right away as they did in their first three contest. Pick: Alexander

4. Sandy Creek (1-2) @ Douglass Astros (0-2) – Sandy Creek opened the season with a 28-24 win over Northgate but then had offensive struggles the last two games being held to seven points or less. Douglass has also struggled offensively in their first two games of the season as they scored seven in their loss to Wesleyan and was held scoreless against Calloway. Quindarious Sterling and Quintavious Lockett will have to find a way to will this Astros offense to get going. Sandy Creek will want to make sure they can keep Lockett from getting that full steam ahead run going or they will have problems throughout the night. This is a tough match up to call, but the Patriots showed they have the ability to score in their opener. Pick: Sandy Creek
