After getting off to an 5-0 start the the season, the Holy Innocents Golden Bears volleyball team has hit a few bumps in the road as their win streak came to an end with back to back losses to Westminster and North Atlanta before getting in the win column but then four more matchups, but eventually ending the skid on Tuesday when they bounced back from a 2-0 loss to North Cobb Christian with a 2-0 win over Riverwood.
"We're still working to kind of find the flow and the drive that works for us," Holy Innocents head coach, Katherine Bange, said following the Tuesday night finale, noting with the loss of seven seniors from last season's team, which advanced to the Georgia High School Association state championship quarterfinals, and "quite a few girls," being new to the team, chemistry is still being developed and roles being defined.
And while the Golden Bears dropped their first match of the night, things seemingly came together for Holy Innocents in the nightcap as they opened the match with a controlling 25-9 set one win but then found themselves battling down the stretch of set two have Riverwood overcame and 10 point deficit to get with six points before eventually dropping the set 25-17.
"As long as we see that and see positives and takeaway positives from matches, losses don't necessarily have to be a loss in that way," Bange continued, praising her team and their efforts to rebound from the North Cobb Christian loss. "Very happy to end the night on a win and just see it all kind of come together," Bange added.
Holy Innocents will return to action on Thursday when they host Greater Atlanta Christian and St. Francis.
