Holy Innocents advances in state tournament with 3-1 win over AIS Eagles
The Holy Innocents Golden Bears are moving on to the second round of the Georgia High School Association Volleyball Private State Championship Tournament after they defeated the Atlanta International School Eagles 3-1 on Wednesday, as they displayed dominating performances in all three sets they would win.
"I think between sets two and three we just reminded them they have an amazing opportunity in front of them and to recognize that we have the luxury of playing at home and to really tap into all those cause and then to just relax and our game," Holy Innocents head coach, Katie Bange said after Wednesday's win. "I think it went well after that," she added as she praised her players for their dominating performances in sets three and four after dropping set two.
Now with their sights on round two in which they will face the winner of Calvary Day and Christian Heritage, Bange noted that while she believes her team "served really well," in addition to "key aces" throughout the match, she wants her players to "remain confident in ourselves and recognize that every single round is going to be a battle," however she believes her players to be ready for challenges to come.
"But that's what we want, to come out and truly be confident in what we're capable of," Bange added. Round two will take place on Saturday for the Golden Bears.
