Dunwoody Tops Riverwood To Take 1-0 Season Series Lead
On Tuesday, the Riverwood Raiders softball team hosted the Dunwoody Wildcats in a region matchup in which both teams looked to end two game losing streaks. The Wildcats would strike first in the top of the first inning after an RBI triple by Amelia McEwen would give Dunwoody the early 1-0 lead. An then later in the frame, a pass ball by Riverwood pitcher, Jaden James would allow McEwen to score from third, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.
Riverwood would respond in the bottom of the second after James would lead off with a triple. Then next batter, Ellie Lesser would drive in Virginia King, pinch running for James, with an RBI single off Dunwoody pitcher, Tatiana Hammock, as the Raiders would trail 2-1. Riverwood would later have a chance to tie or take the lead while still in the bottom of the second inning, but with two outs and runners at first and second, Jaren Glenn would line drive to Ryan Boaz at short, who would snag the ball for the third out of the inning.
Eventually, the Wildcats would pull away picking up the 13-5 win and ending their two game skid, while the Raiders have dropped three straight and will look to rebound once again on Wednesday when they face Chamblee in a non-region matchup.
