As the 2025 Georgia High School Association volleyball season begins to hit the halfway mark of regular season matchups for some teams, the Campbell Spartans appear to getting closer to finding their rhythm, having won four of their last five matches heading into Tuesday night's tri-match in which they hosted the Midtown Knights and Sprayberry Yellow Jackets.

Looking to keep momentum and pick up their third straight the Spartans opened up facing the Knights, who entered the match at 11-2, having won eight in a row, however Midtown would maintain their pace, getting the 2-0 victory and would later take down Sprayberry 2-0 for their 10th consecutive win and setting up the Spartans and Yellow Jackets for a night cap to see which team would pick up the split.

Opening up the first set on a 5-1 run, Campbell appeared to have the match in control, but the Yellow Jackets battle to get within two points thanks to a 11-9 run, but the Spartans would respond with an impressive 9-0 run of their on to close out the set 25-12, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

With set two underway, the Yellow Jackets kept the Campbell within striking distance through the first seven serves as they trailed 4-3, but the Spartans found a groove which led to a 6-2 run, propelling them to a 10-5 lead. Yet, Sprayberry would hang around and get within one point once again in the match as they trailed 19-18. But despite the fight from the Yellow Jackets, the Spartans would close out the set on a 6-0 run, winning it 25-19 and taking the match 2-0.

"I think they responded really well," Campbell head coach, Monica McClure, said after the match, praising her players for their efforts in closing out the night with a win after dropping the opener to Midtown. "We had a heart to heart talk in between games, mostly talking about our actions and making sure our actions matched our words and I think they did that really well in the second match," McClure said.

"They came out and they showed what they can actually do when they do put their mind to it and put their action to their words," McClure continued, crediting leadership from her players for being a key role to helping them win five of their last seven matches.

"We have a lot of girls that step up and they're very vocal," McClure said of the Spartans, who will return to the courts on Wednesday when they host Paideia ahead of their next tri-match with Charles Drew and M.L. King.
