War Eagles Improve To 5-0 As Marist Defeats Westminster 11-6

On Monday, the Westminster Wildcats softball team hosted the Marist War Eagles who came into the match up 4-0 on the season. After two innings the game would remain scoreless, however in the top of the third inning the War Eagles' bats would heat up just a little as they would score three runs including an RBI triple by Ashley Harttell. Heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Wildcats would find themselves trailing 4-1, but an RBI single by Elle Shores would make it a 4-2 lead for the War Eagles.

However, in the top of the seventh inning, up 5-2, Marist would go on a tear scoring six runs to take an 11-2 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats would get a rally going sparked by Julia Rhee as a single to right field would end up bringing in two runs and eventually leading to Rhee ending up at third. Later in the inning, trailing 11-6, Quinn Schaeffer would be faced with keeing Westminster's hopes alive but she would ground out to short allowing Marist to pick up the win and improve to 5-0 on the season.
