Lakeside Climbs Out of 6-2 Hole For 18-7 Win Over Druid Hills

On Monday, the Lakeside Vikings softball team hosted the Druid Hills Red Devils in the first game of the season for both teams. As the game got underway, the Red Devils would take advantage of having the first at bat as Reid would get on base with a lead off double and later score from third on a pass ball, giving the Druid Hills an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, the Vikings would get a big first at bat of the season from Brady Miccichi as she would drive the very first pitch she faced out of the park for a two run home run and putting Lakeside on top 2-1. In the top of the Red Devils would regain the lead going up 6-2 after scoring five runs thanks to a two run single by Benefield, and ground out RBI's by Carter and Floyd.

However, in the bottom of the third, after battling back to trail 6-5, Sara Mirabal would spark the Vikings offense with a two run double as Lakeside would score eight runs in the inning to take a 13-6 lead. They would go on to win by a final of 18-7. Watch highlights from the game below now!
