Dalton's Omar Hernandez Earns Gatorade Georgia Honors
On Thursday, as the Gatorade Company continued its 34 year celebration of student athletes, and announced Omar Hernandez of Dalton High School as its 2018-2019 Gatorade Georgia Boys Soccer Player of the Year. This marks the second consecutive year that Hernandez has earned the honor. In his final season with the Catamounts, Hernandez tallied 16 goals and 17 assist and helped lead Dalton to a perfect 23-0 record and capture the 2018-2019 Georgia High School Association Class 6A state championship. Gatorade also recognizes the off the field accomplishments of the student athletes, which Hernandez has maintained a 3.30 grade point average and has also volunteered as a youth soccer coach. Hernandez has signed his national letter of intent to play with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons this upcoming season.
