North Gwinnett Gets Payback, Defeats Lambert With Penalty Kicks To Claim 2019 GHSA 7A State Champion

On Saturday, the Georgia High School Association soccer state championships continued and in girl's Class 7A action, the North Gwinnet Bulldogs took on the Lambert Longhorns in a rematch from earlier this season where the Longhorns defeated the Bulldogs 3-1.

The contest would remain tight as neither team was able to connect for a goal until late in the second half when the Longhorns' Faith Ferrer would score to give Lambert a 1-0 lead with 2:26 to go in the game. North Gwinnett would respond very quickly when a penalty kick with lead to a header goal by Aliah Kitchens to tie the game 1-1 with 1:57 to go.

Regulation would end with the game still tied as well as the overtime period so it would come down to penalty kicks which the Bulldogs would win and claim the 2019 GHSA 7A state title. Watch highlights from the game below now!
