Longhorns Remain Perfect As Lambert Defeats North Gwinnett 3-1 In a Friendly
On Tuesday, the Lambert Longhorns girls soccer team returned to action after spring break as they hosted the North Gwinnett Bulldogs, who also were coming off the break, in a friendly. Both teams came into the match up undefeated in their respective regions, however the Longhorns also boasted a 13-0 overall record heading into Tuesday's action.
In the early part of the first half, both teams managed to get some good shots on goal but neither team was able to generate any goals. But late in the first half, the Longhorns would seem to get their legs under them and get more connections offensively as they score two goals courtesy of Katelyn Castelli and Emma Baumbick taking a 2-0 lead just before the half.
In the second half, the Bulldogs would respond with a goal of their own by Bree Barley to make it a 2-1 game with 7:07 to go in the contest. North Gwinnett would get several shots on goal down the stretch but it would be Lambert adding to their lead thanks to a header by Ellie Christensen off a corner kick as the Longhorn would go on to pick up the 3-1 win and improve to 14-0.
