The Knights still had the memory of that playoff loss on their minds as well as the Longhorns because going into the second half of that game, Lambert led 9-2 and the Knights fought back to force the game to go into overtime, but the Longhorns would go on to pick up the 15-14 win and eventually win the GHSA 6A-7A state title.

Both teams came out hot as Lambert scored first just 59 seconds into the game thanks to a Christian Rhoad goal. However, 38 seconds later on the other end, Centennial's Matthew Mayville would score to tie the game up. The first quarter also saw a lot of good defensive play from both teams as the period would end tied up 2-2.

In the second quarter, the Longhorns would start to gain more momentum as they would outscore the Knights 6-2 in the period to take an 8-4 lead at the half. In the second and third quarters, the Longhorns' defense would continue to make it a difficult night for Centennial offensively as they held them to two second half points, while adding four more points of their own in route to a 12-6 win. The Lambert improved to 12-0 after picking up the victory. Watch highlights from the game below now!
