Lions Improve To 7-1, 3-0 In Region Standings As Westlake Defeats Newnan 3-0
On Tuesday, in a key region match up, the Westlake Lions girls soccer team hosted rival, the Newnan Cougars. The Lions jump on the board first after a first half goal by Taylor Oliver as she scored following Newnan's Maddie Miller blocking her first attempt.
On the defensive end, Westlake keeper Karess Guidry-Capers would not allowing anything to get past her as she and the Lions held the Cougars scoreless in the first half. In the second, Capers continued to come up with saves and once again, keeping Newnan from scoring.
Meanwhile, offensive, the Lions would pick up two more goals in the second half, including a goal by Nia Lott and Shenell Edwards scoring on a penalty kick. Westlake would pick up the 3-0 win to improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in their region. Watch highlights from the game below now!
