Alpharetta Defeats Chattahoochee 11-7, Advances To Face Dunwoody in GHSA 6A Region Seven Tournament
Back and forth the Alpharetta Raiders and Chattahoochie Cougars would go in a winner take all match up between the two teams in the Georgia High School Association Class 6A Region seven tournament. The Cougars would strike first scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. In the top of third, the Raiders would answer back with two runs of their own and tie the game 2-2.
In the top of the third inning, the Raiders would take a one point lead after a bad pitch would lead to a runner scoring from third base. Alpharetta would tack on four more runs and take 6-2 lead. The Cougars would chip away at the Raiders' lead beginning with a solo homerun by Britney Woodruff in the bottom of the fifth inning, making it a 6-3 lead for Alpharetta.
Later in the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars would score four more runs and regain the lead as they went up 7-6, however four runs scored by the Raiders in the top of the seventh inning would once again give Alpharetta the lead as they would go on to pick up the 11-7 win.
