Vikings Hand Jaguars Second Straight Loss As Lakeside Defeats Stephenson 18-3

On Monday, the Lakeside Vikings hosted the Stephenson Jaguars in high school softball action. The Jaguars looked to bounce back from their 4-3 loss to Holy Innocents over the weekend, a loss that snapped the Jaguars 12 game win streak, with a win over the Vikings who were celebrating their senior night.

With their star pitcher, Brianna Smith, out do to injury, the Jaguars looked to get their bats going early to to help spark the offense and things looked good for them as they would score two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Vikings would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning and tying up the game 2-2 and then later in the bottom of the second inning, adding another three runs to take a 5-2 lead.

In the top of the third inning, an error on a throw by the Vikings would allow the Jaguars to score another run and make it a 5-3 lead for Lakeside but in the bottom of the third, the Vikings bats would catch fire as they would score 13 runs and pick up the 18-3 win.
