Georgia High School Association Gives Schools Option To Reschedule Athletic Activity Due To Hurrican

With Hurricane Florence taking a turn which projects parts of Georgia being affected by the storm, the Georgia High School Association has given all schools the option to reschedule regular season athletic activity if they feel the contest will be affected by the hurricane. On the GHSA website, they state that they "hope the storm will not be a major problem for GHSA schools", however have given the schools the permission to "err on the side of caution" and reschedule football games to Thursday, September 13th or Saturday, September 15th. All other fall sports that decide to reschedule must do so on any date prior to the end of the regular season. We reached out to representatives from Atlanta Public Schools, Gwinnett County Schools and Dekalb County schools who all stated that they currently do not foresee any athletic activities being rescheduled at this current time. However further south where the hurricane is expected to have more of an effect, the Savannah -Chatham County Public School System has cancelled all after school activities for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We will update this post as changes occur.
