Madison Kerpics Throws One Hitter, 14 K's As Wesleyan Defeats Lovett 1-0

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Lovett Lady Lions softball team hosted the Wesleyan Lady Wolves, another one loss team in what was sure to be a close contest. The Lions, where winners of 13 straight wins before losing their last game 10-4 to the Marist Eagles. Meanwhile, the Wolves had won five of their previous six contest, including four straight, heading into Monday's match up with Lovett.

As expected the contest was tight from the first pitch as great pitching and defense kept the game scoreless through three innings. The Wolves would finally get on the board first thanks to an RBI double by Savannah Sommers as Wesleyan would take a 1-0 lead. Despite several players coming up with base hits for the Wolves, including Jahni Kerr who went 3-3 on the night, Lovetts defense would stand tall not allowing Wesleyan to pick up any additional runs.

However, it was the near perfect night from the mound by Madison Kerpics of Wesleyan that kept the Lions from being able to get any production offensively. Kerpics struck out 14 of the Lovett batters allowing only one hit throughout the night as the Wolves went on to pick up the 1-0 win to improve to 12-1 and winning their fifth straight game.
