Chapel Hill Remains Atop Region After 13-10 Win Over Region Rival Central

On Monday, the Chapel Hill Lady Panthers softball team hosted the Central Lions in a region match up that had early season implications on the standings. Both teams had not lost in region going into the game so a win by either team would put a game between them in region standings.

In the bottom of the first, the Panthers would take a 4-0 lead including an RBI single by Isis Taylor who had a very productive game. More on Taylor to come. The Lions would manage to crawl back into the contest and cut the Panthers lead down to 4-3, however it appeared as though each time Central made the game close, the Panthers would increase their lead as they did in the bottom of the second inning taking a 6-3 lead with runs coming off a line drive sacrifice fly by Taylor.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Taylor would strike again as she stepped to the plate with two outs and runners at first and second and launch one deep over the left field fence for a three run homerun and a 9-3 lead. The Panthers would go on to win by a final score of 13-10.
