On Monday, 7-foot-3 big high school big man Matt Van Komen announced his commitment to the Utah Utes via Twitter. "Excited to announce that I am going to be a Ute! Go Utes!", Van Komen tweeted around noon Monday. Considered the nation's No. 32 center in the class of 2019 and ranked a three star player by 247 Sports, Van Komen averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots per game last season as a junior for the Pleasant Grove Vikings, leading them to finish as Utah 6A state runner ups. The Gonzaga Bulldogs also had offered Van Komen a scholarship last summer, who was named to the Utah based All-Tribune statewide team, but it was the Utes that appear to have won the commitment the big man.
