Union Grove Bounces Back From Snap of Win Streak With 6-1 Win Over Tri Cities, 2 Goals For Cade LeJe
On Tuesday, an eager Union Grove Wolverines team got back to action as they visited the Tri Cities Bulldogs in a non region match up. The Wolverines were coming off a 1-0 loss to Pike County, which snapped Union Grove's five game win streak. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were also coming off an 8-1 loss to Cross Keys. In the first half, the Wolverines would score first after a corner kick led to a goal by Sr. captain, Cade LeJeune, to give Union Grove a 1-0 lead.
Despite the Bulldogs getting a couple of good looks to score later in the half, Tri Cities would trail 1-0 at half time. In the second half, just under five minutes into the period, the Wolverines would strike for a second time courtesy a penalty kick by LeJeune, his second goal of the game, and the Union Grove would take a 2-0 lead. Later on in the half, two more goals for the Wolverines by Zack Thomason and Daniel Kidd would put Union Grove up 4-0 just about midway through the half.
The Bulldogs would eventually get on the board and trail 4-1 with 21:00 remaining, but the Wolverines would tack on two more goals themselves, including an acrobatic score by Souahb Kasam, and Union Grove would go up 6-1 and win by the same score. The Wolverines have another non region match up next against Heriatge before facing region rival Stockbridge, in which a win by Union Grove over the Tigers would solidify the top spot in Georgia High School Association 5A Region 4.
