Ahkil Russ Scores 100th Career Goal As Grady Defeats Riverwood 1-0 In Key Region Match Up

In a key Georgia High School Association 5A Region 6 match up, the Grady Knights hosted the Riverwood Raiders on Thursday with both teams needing the win to help better position themselves in region standings and keep them close to region leader, the Decatur Bulldogs.

In the opening minutes, the Knights would have a couple of good looks but would not be able to connect for goals on their first few attempts. The same would be the case for the Raiders as they too would come up short on their attempts to score in the early goings of the contest.

As time in the first half ticked under the five minute mark, the Knights would strike first as Alex Westin would make the long pass to Ahkil Russ who would drive and shoot with the ball sailing just up and over the finger tips of the Riverwood goalie into the net to give Grady a 1-0 lead, The goal wold be Russ' 100th career goal.

In the second despite several close calls by the Raiders, neither team would manage to score and Grady would go on to win the final score of 1-0. The win by Grady creates a three way tie for second place between Riverwood, North Springs and Grady all at 5-2 in region play. Watch highlights of the game below now!
