Two Second Half Goals For Macey Hodge, Alexander Tops Douglas County 3-1, Moves Into Second In Regio


With region plays around the corner, the Alexander Cougars hosted cross town and region rival the Douglas County Tigers in a pivotal region match up. A win for the Cougars would see them leap ahead of the Tigers into second place in region standings and remaining a game behind Northgate.

The first half of the game would go scoreless, despite both teams getting several good opportunities but each coming up short. However, in the second half, the action would pick up when a free kick for the Tigers would lead to a goal by Barbara Kiger to give Douglas County a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the second half.

The Cougars would respond nine minutes later as Macey Hodge would score on a header off the side kick to tie the game up 1-1. Two minutes later, with the Cougars' offense on the attack, Hodge would score her second goal to give Alexander a 2-1 lead. With just over ten minute to go in the game, Douglas County would find themselves on a fast break and and a chance to tie the game but Lauryn Hales' shot would go wide right.

As the game continued, Alexander would add another goal by Ally Singleton giving them a 3-1 lead and that would be the final score. The win gives the Cougars possession of second place in region standings, a game behind region leader Northgate. Watch highlights from the game below now!
