Salem, Southwest Dekalb Give Us Glimpse Of What To Expect In 2017 Season

Despite weather ending the game early, we get a glimpse of what to expect in the 2017 high school football season as Prep Sports Nation was on hand for the Salem Seminoles and Southwest Dekalb Panthers scrimmage game. The Panthers would get on the board first as Francisco Hunter would punch his way into the end zone giving southwest Dekalb a 6-0 lead after they failed to make good on the extra point attempt. On their next possession, Salem would fail to answer and remain trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Seminoles would take the lead after Jr. quarterback Donald Wilson wold connect with Makari Pruitt for a 35 yard touchdown and Salem would take a 7-6 lead after making the extra point. With :02 remaining in the first half, the Panthers looked to regain the lead but would fail to do so as Salem's Keevan Bailey would intercept Southwest Dekalb's Justin Tomlin as the half would come to an end.

The game would not resume in the second half due to severe weather moving into the area. After the game Salem head Coach Jarrett Laws said he was hoping he would be able to see more from his young team but believes they will be ready for the upcoming season. The Seminoles open up the regular season against rival Heritage while Southwest Dekalb will face Redan. Watch highlights below.
