Lady Eagles Claim 11th Championship As Milton Defeats Cambridge 13-4 For the GHSA 6A-7A Girls Lacros


On Saturday, the Milton Lady Eagles looked to win their 11th Georgia High School Association Girls Lacrosse State Title as they faced the Cambridge Lady Bears in the Championship game. In the first half Milton’s #24 Sr. Sophia Baez and #10 Sr. Hannah Demis would combine for five of the Lady Eagles six first half goals as they lead Cambridge by a score of 6-2 going into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Bears would cut into the Milton lead and make it a 6-3 game after a goal by #2 So. Belle Dora with 22:12 to go in the game. As the game continued, Baez would score her fifth goal of the game and Milton would take a 7-3 lead with 21:11 remaining in the game.

The Lady Eagles would score three more consecutive goals before Cambridge would answer and the Lady Bears would find themselves trailing 10-4 with 14:54 to go in the contest.

With time winding down, Baez would score her fifth goal of the game as the Lady Eagles would take a commanding 11-4 lead and back to back goals by #1 Sr. Courtney Hutchinson would make it a 13-4 game in favor of Milton and that would be the final score as the Lady Eagles win their 11th GHSA Girls Lacrosse State Championship in school history.
